Mini Mentoring & Mock Interviews Assist with Leadership Skills & Professional Development

Thank you to the community members who volunteered at our recent Mini Mentoring and Mock Interview events for our 9th and 10th graders! Volunteers from various educational and career backgrounds gathered at our Simpson Center or Girls to share their own experiences and work with our youth on various aspects of their professional development.

Mini Mentoring provides a space for open dialogue between our girls and their mentors where they can ask anything they’re curious about regarding college, career and life experience. During Mock Interviews, girls participate in multiple cycles of staged job interviews, after which they receive feedback on their strengths as well as tips for improvement.

Both exercises prepare girls for their future Girls Inc. internship placements—at companies like Google, Zumper, Rakuten, and the Golden State Warriors—and provide them with skills and confidence they can apply in their future leadership and career endeavors. They also enable our girls to form meaningful and lasting relationships with professional women who look like them and reflect the communities they come from.
