Lights On Afterschool in Oakland and Across the Nation

Rallies across the country celebrate Lights on After School, on the last Thursday of October every year since 2000, to illuminate the importance of out-of-school time for youth development. Afterschool programs are critical to providing young people with exposure to mentors and new ideas, skill-building opportunities, relationships, and social capital in safe, supportive environments.

On October 26th, we celebrated our staff and colleagues nationwide whose work makes a difference in the lives of our youth, families, Oakland and Alameda County communities every day.
