Take It to the Streets: Join Us at the Women’s March on January 21

The new year is bringing a host of changes for our country, our communities, and our girls. Some of these changes are exciting: girls are returning to the Simpson Center after winter break ready to participate in activities from healthy cooking to circuitry, and seniors in our College Access Now! Program are waiting to receive college acceptance letters. Other changes, like the arrival of the new administration in Washington DC, elicit uncertainty and fear among our girls and their families.

Regardless of who sits in the Oval Office, Girls Inc. of Alameda County is committed to our values and mission: that all girls deserve respect, safety, and ample opportunities to pursue their dreams. We will face this new era with the same dedication to girls that has been a hallmark of our work for 59 years. In the spirit of solidarity, our girls and staff are turning out for the Women’s March in Oakland on January 21. With inauguration day on the horizon, we are also initiating a new community education event series for our staff, alumnae, and for you, our supporters. Our first panel discussion, “Girls in the Era of Trump,” kicks off on January 31 in downtown Oakland.
