Stand with us. Stand with girls.
For decades, Girls Inc. of Alameda County has been committed to empowering and inspiring girls to navigate barriers so they can thrive. As an agency dedicated to the advancement of women and girls, we have never had the luxury of turning a blind eye to the gender bias, sexism, and racism that rose to the surface this election year.
The barriers women and girls face on the street, in schools, and in the workplace are real and profound. Our girls are vocal about their worries. Many of them are immigrants. Some are undocumented. Quite a few are Muslim. The great majority are girls of color. They have real concerns for themselves and their families.
We know that our collective voices have power, and that our girls draw strength from their greater community. It is critical that we continue to support our girls’ education, health, well-being, and leadership development so that they can create powerful futures. Now, more than ever, we are committed to moving forward. Stand with us to show the girls that you are in their corner. Together, we can change the world.
