The Magic Continues on Day Two of Future Leaders

On Day two of Future Leaders—a two-day mentorship program that pairs our youth with employees of the Golden State Warriors and Rakuten—our high schoolers crossed the Bay Bridge to reach the Chase Center, where more surprises awaited their arrival.

Dressed in the business attire they had selected the day before, the girls could choose to get their makeup done by professional makeup artists before taking official headshots for future use in college and in their future careers, as well as some fun photos with their friends.

After photos, the girls were ready to shadow their mentors and learn about various gameday responsibilities– guest services, security, ticket sales, VIP fan experiences and more—before enjoying the game between the Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs from the Rakuten suite!

Just before the game, Girls Inc. of Alameda County received a special shoutout and the girls were asked to gather at center court to be recognized as the next generation of leaders.

Thank you, Future Leaders, Rakuten and the Golden State Warriors for creating such a valuable experience for our high schoolers for the last six years!

Watch the video for a recap of the entire Future Leaders experience, including interviews with our girls, Rakuten and the Warriors.

Here directly from the participants about their experience:

“My favorite part of the Future Leaders experience was the feeling of being important and committed.”
– Amber, 12th grade

“Something I learned from one of my mentors was how to make a good resume. She was a recruiter so it’s her job to look through the applications that come in. It was interesting to hear about the process from the interviewer/recruiter’s point of view.”
– Cassadina, 11th grade

“The most valuable thing I learned during the experience was from the women’s panel about taking risks and pursuing my passions.”
– Beverly, 12th grade
