Our Girls Rise Gala @ home Was a Success!

On October 23 we celebrated our first ever Girls Rise Gala @ home! Our community virtually came together for the evening to celebrate the power and impact of Girls Inc. of Alameda County.

Thank you to our sponsors, investors, board members, alumnae, volunteers, friends, allies, staff, and local businesses who came together to make the event a huge success. The digital gala allowed us to expand our audience to be larger than ever before, attended by over 700 people. With your partnership and investment, we raised over $420,000!

Our Girls Rise Gala @ home was an evening to remember thanks to our alumnae who shared with us their Girls Inc. experiences. The evening began with a Q&A between our CEO Julayne Virgil and Senior Vice President, Talent at Pixar Animation Studios and Girls Inc. alumna Katherine Sarafian. They discussed the lasting impact of the Girls Inc. experience and what it means to be a strong, smart, and bold citizen of the world. Alumnae Celene Alva, E’Mani Johnson, and Tayo Ogunmayin all shared their stories, highlighting the ways in which Girls Inc. programs provided them with a platform to explore their identity, define what sisterhood means, and imagine their future. As Tayo stated, “Girls Inc. helped me realize that people wanted to hear my ideas and that I had something to say—a lot to say.”

If you weren’t able to attend, you can still watch the recording of the live event. The evening exemplified what we can accomplish when we come together to help girls rise through change. We thank you and hope you will continue to be part of our powerful community that removes barriers, inspires excellence, and supports our girls as they unleash their potential.
