“ShoeMobile” Brings My New Red Shoes!

Remember the thrill of picking out new shoes before school started? Thanks to our partners, My New Red Shoes, each of our girls received a new pair of shoes—and then went back-to-school shopping with a $50 gift certificate to Old Navy.

It all started when the My New Red Shoes “ShoeMobile” appeared, and girls took a brief break from their learning to see what was inside. What was inside were new shoes, at least three fun, different pairs in each girl’s size. Girls excitedly started trying the shoes on, and considering which were their favorites.

For some of the younger girls, having the chance to pick out her own shoes was a totally new experience. One of them turned from the shoes in front of her to a My New Red Shoes staff member wide-eyed and asked, “I get to choose?” When the staff member answered her affirmatively, the girl turned seriously back to the shoes in front of her. A moment later she looked back at the staff member again. “I get to choose— myself?”

Once each girl had selected her pair, she was given a $50 Old Navy gift certificate so that she could get brand new clothes to go with it. Girls and families were especially excited about the resource because the beginning of the school can present many unexpected costs, and new clothes are not always in the cards.

By the end of the day, each girl had an outfit that she could wear confidently to the first day of school. Here’s to a smart, successful, and stylish school year!
