Virgtrese McGee

High School Program Manager

Virgtrese is a  Program Manager passionate about empowering and fostering positive relationships with youth.  I have dedicated over 20 years to supporting youth in education and building strong communities.

I am a proud California State University, East Bay graduate, where I earned my degree in Human Development with Child Development as an option and a minor in African American Studies. As the first person in my family to graduate college, I have always been committed to breaking barriers and setting an example for future generations.

My professional journey in youth work began in 2000 working in Oakland Unified School District serving High school students as a mentor and academic coach for 6 years. I continued my journey with the Albany YMCA for 12 years as an Assistant Director for Youth Programs. During this time, I provided a safe and enriching environment for young individuals to learn, grow, and thrive in their development.

My leadership and dedication in developing programs that nurtured physical, mental, and social well-being, leaving a lasting impact on youth development is what I strive to give our youth in Oakland.

I have been a part of Girls Inc. for 5+ years, an organization that shares my values and commitment to empowering youth. As a Program Manager, I believe in creating and implementing programs that promote leadership, self-confidence, and academic excellence.

It excites me to be on the journey of impact and empowerment and contribute my skills and experiences to inspire the next generation of leaders.
