Girls Inc. Alumna on Track to Be Investment Banker

Girls Inc. alumna Tehray is on track to achieve her goal of becoming an investment banker! Two years ago, Tehray spoke at the Girls Inc. Taste event about how Girls Inc. helped her overcome enormous obstacles to go to college and pursue her career goals. Now, as a sophomore in college, Tehray continues to bring her Strong, Smart, and Bold spirit to everything she does— and continues to stay connected with Girls Inc.

Tehray recently attended a competitive “Women’s Insight Series” two-day event at Morgan Stanley headquarters in New York. To make sure she was ready for this and other opportunities in the field, Girls Inc. board members Julie Baeder (who works at Morgan Stanley) and Janet Loduca rallied their networks to raise $1,000 for a business formal wardrobe, and Julie took Tehray shopping. In addition, Julie connected Tehray with an investment banker friend to get some help designing the narrative for upcoming interviews. Tehray was able to use her new wardrobe at her next adventure, the Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Camp in Salt Lake City, where she was selected as one of 320 attendees from a competitive pool of 3552 qualified applicants.

As she moves into her Junior year of college, Tehray is continuing to make the most of every opportunity. She has decided to minor in math because, as she puts it, “I love to be challenged to grow and I feel like higher math provides a space for me.” And she is already setting her sights on investment banking internships for the next summer.

When asked how she is being Strong, Smart, and Bold these days, Tehray answers with a smile, “I feel that when it comes to my future I’m really being all three, as there is no giving up and no backing down!”
