This Valentine’s Day GirlSMART Girls Receive 450+ Books

This Valentine’s Day, girls in the GirlSMART Literacy Program across the Bay Area are receiving over 450 donated books! Volunteers, including two of our past CEOs, Linda Boessnecker (CEO from 2008 – 2016) and Pat Loomes (CEO from 1977 – 2007), gathered to wrap the items in preparation for today, where girls will be gifted thoughtfully selected books to share with their family and friends.

The GirlsSMART program remains a key component of our programming for girls, aged kindergarten through 3rd grade, as research shows that reading at grade level by third grade is a key indicator of future academic success.
