West Oakland Middle School students put their engineering, architecture, and project management skills to the test with the support of DPR Construction. Using popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and other materials, they worked in teams to design and build helipads strong enough to support a drone helicopter landing!
Each participant took on a real-world role—Architect, Project Manager, Superintendent, or Builder—learning about the responsibilities, salaries, and education paths associated with each position. Through collaboration and problem-solving, the teams successfully completed their structures, ensuring smooth landings across the board! Take a look!
A huge thank you to DPR Construction for sharing their time, expertise, and insights into the world of construction!
“As a woman working in the construction industry, I enjoy sharing with the girls about a career path in this industry that they would otherwise not consider. I want them to see themselves in whatever they want to be.” – Paz Arroyo, Ph.D., DPR Construction
