Alma Manzano

School-Based Program Manager

Alma Manzano was born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and is a first-generation graduate. She has earned degrees in Social & Behavioral Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from San Francisco State University.

Alma’s passion for equal access to education began at a young age. As an immigrant, and the eldest and only daughter among four siblings, Alma learned early the importance of breaking gender stereotypes and advocating for herself and others in her community who face social, economic, and educational barriers. Alma has been working with youth since 2008, starting her career as an early childhood educator and Spanish teacher. Alma joined Girls Inc. in 2021 as the lead site coordinator for an Oakland elementary school. Alma is thrilled to continue her role as a Program Manager at Girls Inc. Her dedication to the organization’s mission to inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold aligns with her values in raising her daughter.
