Golden State Valkyries Visit our Simpson Center for Girls!
As part of their listening tour to identify their community impact goals, the Golden State Valkyries visited Girls Inc. of Alameda County’s downtown Oakland Simpson Center for Girls.
The Golden State Valkyries are headquartered in Oakland, they are the first WNBA expansion team since 2008, and they are the first team in women’s sports history to sell over 15,000 seat licenses—having now surpassed 20,000 season ticket deposits—in advance of their 2025 inaugural season.
Veronne Clark, Director of Community for the Valkyries and Community Manager, Dominique Bocanegra, met with ~100 girls in our middle and high school programs who were exploring everything from coding to leadership, to designing business concepts to constructing bridges to reproductive health to applying for college.
Thank you, Valkyries, for visiting us, engaging with our youth and offering words of advice and encouragement.
