Celebrating Our Girls Inc. National Scholarship Finalists

Congratulations to our five outstanding finalists: Lynette, Lynelle, Padme, Nia, and Zarahana! These remarkable young women have been selected to represent Girls Inc. of Alameda County in the Girls Inc. National Scholarship competition. Their essays beautifully reflect the growth, resilience, and empowerment that define our mission. We wish them the best of luck as they compete for life-changing scholarships, with winners to be announced in February 2024!

This prestigious competition, hosted by Girls Inc. National, invites high school juniors, seniors, and 8th-grade students (with at least two years of program involvement) from affiliates across the US and Canada to vie for scholarships, ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, to support their high school and postsecondary education.

Preparing for this opportunity was no small feat. Each girl worked closely with a dedicated volunteer essay mentor from our community. Together, they brainstormed ideas, crafted narratives, and refined their essays during transformative mentoring sessions.

In November, high school juniors and seniors in our College Access Now program submitted their final essays, and a panel of judges thoughtfully reviewed these submissions, selecting our five finalists, who truly embody the mission and impact of Girls Inc. of Alameda County.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the volunteer mentors and judges who made this possible. Your support inspires and empowers the next generation of strong, smart, and bold leaders!
