Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, November 17th – 23rd

November 17th – 23rd, we celebrated the 10th Annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW)!

NAW is a nationwide celebration where industry, labor, equity, workforce, education, and government leaders host events to showcase the successes and value of Registered Apprenticeship for re-building our economy, advancing racial and gender equity, and supporting underserved communities. NAW is an opportunity to highlight how Registered Apprenticeships (RA), a proven and industry-driven training model, provide a critical talent pipeline that can help to address some of our nation’s pressing workforce challenges.

In early 2023, we launched our Expanded Learning Apprenticeship–the first of its kind in the Expanded Learning/Afterschool sector in the state! To date, we have launched three cohorts and are in the process of recruiting a fourth. This Spring, our first cohort completed their first 12 units of coursework in the Teacher Preparation Program at Berkeley City College, earning a Certificate of Proficiency in School Readiness. We were able to recognize the first milestone of this journey towards a Teacher’s Aide Certificate, 48 units and potentially their Associate of Arts Degree for Transfer—many of these Apprentices will be building on this foundation for a variety of paths to future career success.

We celebrate each Apprentice who brings their unique strengths and experiences to their roles, and we are honored to bring them together in this powerful program to advance their careers and serve our youth.
