Meet 2024 EmpowerFest Alumnae Speaker Destiny Bun

Meet Destiny Bun, a Bay Area native, who participated in the Girls Inc. of Alameda County Eureka! Program from 2010-2015. Join us at our upcoming fundraiser, EmpowerFest and hear from Destiny, firsthand, about her transformative journey with Girls Inc. that began when she was a teenager, providing her with her first internships and instilling in her the values of confidence, resilience, and independence.

These experiences were crucial as she navigated college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she faced culture shock and isolation as a Cambodian American. During this particularly challenging time, she assisted in developing the Multicultural Business Program, aiming to support underrepresented students. This initiative allowed her to give back to the community, echoing the impact of Girls Inc. on her life.

Now, she works at Rakuten, a valued Partner of Girls Inc. of Alameda County, and volunteers with the organization, continuing to support and empower young women. Girls Inc. was pivotal in her development, providing academic support and scholarships that eased her college financial burden. Her story is a testament to the power of community support and the enduring impact of being strong, smart, and bold.
