Elementary School Girls are Over the Moon About Black SciGirls Earth and Space Curriculum

We partnered with Black SciGirls, an organization dedicated to increasing access to STEM education for Black girls, to complete an Earth and Space educational unit.

The unit included lessons on designing and building their own windmills, learning about flower and plant life, light pollution, robotics and outer space! The girls then presented their projects to loved ones during Family Night.

SciGirls is an Emmy award-winning PBS Kids television show, website, and educational outreach program that draws on cutting-edge research about what engages girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning and careers

Black SciGirls is conducting a culturally responsive evaluation to determine the extent to which SciGirls builds educators’ ability to integrate equitable and anti-racist practices to build Black girls’ interest and confidence in STEM studies.
